Public Citizen works with other consumer advocacy groups, addiction treatment providers, professional groups, and community-based drug and alcohol prevention programs to curb the opioid addiction crisis. We advocate a new FDA regulatory framework for approving opioids that is based on broader public health considerations.

Our Work

Seeking a Moratorium on FDA Approval of New Opioids

We petitioned the FDA to halt approval of new opioid formulations until the agency takes steps to prevent additional dangerous, approved opioids from flooding the market.
