YouTube Caught Tracking and Exploiting Children
WASHINGTON, D.C. – YouTube, owned by Google, reportedly placed ad targeting cookies and identifiers on the devices of a viewer who clicked on an ad, meant for adults, while watching a “made for kids” video. Emily Peterson-Cassin, digital rights advocate for Public Citizen, released the following statement:
“It’s unacceptable that Congress has let opportunity after opportunity go by without passing necessary legislation to hold big tech companies accountable. It’s time for lawmakers to stand up and say that giant corporations cannot break the rules again and again without facing consequences. Exploiting our children should be the outrage that breaks the camel’s back.”
