Congress Must Act Quickly to Protect Investors’ Access to Justice
Public Citizen Expert to Testify at House Hearing on Investor Rights
WHAT: Public Citizen’s Remington A. Gregg will testify at a hearing held by the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets titled, “Putting Investors First: Reviewing Proposals to Hold Executives Accountable.”
Gregg will urge Congress to immediately address the threat to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s longstanding policy of protecting investors from forced arbitration clauses and class-action bans. In addition, he will call on Congress to pass the Investor Choice Act, which would amend federal securities laws to prohibit issuers, brokers, dealers or investment advisers from putting pre-dispute arbitration agreements in contracts with investors.
