FAIR Act Would Ban Forced Arbitration in Employment, Consumer, Antitrust, Civil Rights Disputes
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) on Thursday reintroduced the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal Act (FAIR Act), which would ban forced arbitration in employment, consumer, antitrust, and civil rights disputes. Lisa Gilbert, executive vice president of Public Citizen, released the following statement:
“The widespread use of forced arbitration provisions means consumers, workers, small businesses, and investors are denied access to courts – and denied access to justice. Lawmakers should support this important bill that protects their constituents by leveling the playing field for consumers, employees, investors, and small businesses. Sen. Blumenthal and Rep. Johnson deserve thanks for continuing their tireless efforts to protect the rights of American consumers and workers.”
